Why Our Concussion Care Services are Different

We Focus on the Full Scope of a Concussion

One of the biggest shifts in concussion management has been the focus on treatment. The challenge is that few providers are able to keep up with the volume of research and the ongoing advancements in concussion care.

Historically diagnosis has heavily relied on subjective reporting. This approach leads to uncertainty by providers on whether or not  you have a concussion, why you are experiencing  your current symptoms, and what proactive steps you can take in your recovery.

Taking an objective approach, we're able to assess and diagnose with a high degree of certainty what brain networks have been impacted by your injury. Our role is to deliver a clear explanation of these networks and help you understand why you are experiencing your current symptoms. Following a diagnosis, an individualized treatment plan is developed to help accelerate your recovery.

Whether you're taking a call from work or school, if you are able to stream video from your device and we can see your eyes, we can provide diagnosis and treatment.

Did You Know?

Those who are delayed access to a specialty concussion provider (48 hours or greater) often experience delays in their recovery resulting in significant time lost from daily activities. For every 24 hour period beyond the first two days of your injury you run the risk of experiencing symptoms for an additional three to six days.

How Is a Concussion Treatable?

We have seen a cultural shift on how we view concussions. We have gone from paying too little attention, “You just got your bell rung, get back out there!” to now borderline hysteric, “One concussion means you will probably have permanent irreversible damage.” This hysteria leads to misinformation.

Brain injuries have always been viewed as treatable. In fact, much more severe versions of brain injuries (concussions are considered a mild injury) are always approached with aggressive and acute rehab. Yet we have forgotten to take this same rehab/sports medicine approach with concussions. Our approach to treatment and our focus on early access to specialty concussion care means less of a life disruption and a quicker/safer recovery.
